Introductions

Welcome! I thought I’d launch this blog by introducing myself and explaining a bit about why I’ll be writing what I’ll be writing. This blog is geared for teenage to young adult Christians, but whoever you are, welcome! I’m delighted you’re here. This is a space for me to write what the Lord is teaching me as I run this race called life for him. I hope to look back at this years from now and see snippets of truth God taught me and glimmers of fun along the way. I also hope to encourage you; I’m assuming there is someone else out there who’s struggling with the same things I’m struggling with. Perhaps my thoughts on what God says and posts on what he has been putting on my heart can touch someone and encourage that person as they run their race for Christ. That’d be pretty incredible. 🙂 So each Saturday, hop on over and join me as I explore a new idea or theme about God and what I’m (slowly) learning from him.

Additionally, the Lord says in Proverbs 17:22, “A cheerful heart is good medicine….” God made laughter, and it makes him happy when his children have cheerful hearts. He delights in us (Zephaniah 3:17). So each Wednesday, pay me a visit as I jot down a funny story, a rant, or a quiz. I hope to use these times to get to know each other better and build a community of Christ’s body running with each other the races God has set out for each of us. So if you’re in, send me a comment, share this on FaceBook, and let’s get this started! I’m ridiculously excited to see what God does.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” -Hebrews 12:1-3

P.S. My name is Carissa Joy, my nickname is Rissa  (hence the blog name;), and I love all things chocolate, spending time with my family, doing fun things with friends, singing, acting, occasionally dancing, and reading. I’m a homeschooled high school junior who’s taking some classes at the local junior college, loving English, and not loving homework. One of my favorite Bible verses is Nehemiah 8:10. If you’ve got a moment, type in a comment so I can learn a bit about you!
